On January 28, 2009, little Timothy Charles made his way into the world, just one day after his due date. We're excited to
have him as part of our family! Audrey and Chester are happy, too, although Audrey wanted a sister. We're a little bit
worried about Chester's adjustment to having a baby brother, actually, because he's been quite possessive of everything
(including his mother), lately. Well, he's just going to have to get used to it!
Laura had been contracting off and on for about a month, pretty severely a few weeks ago, so we were pretty certain that this
kid was going to come early. When he didn't, we figured he was just waiting out the Chinese New Year, figuring it was much
better to be an ox than a rat!
The actual labor itself was quite fast. Laura had had fairly regular contractions all day, but only about once every 15 minutes
or so, and they weren't long enough or regular enough or often enough to call the doctor about. Finally, she went to bed
about 9:00, and I followed a short time later. When I counted contractions at 9:20, 9:25, 9:30, 9:35 and 9:40, I started to get
suspicious. At 9:45 she told me to call the doctor, because they were concerning her enough she wanted to at least get
looked at. So we called our friends to watch Audrey and Chester, gathered up some stuff, drove up to the hospital and
checked in at 11:00. Well, Laura wasn't just whistling Dixie. Timothy was born at 11:44, weighing in at 7 lbs, 9 oz (3.440 kg)
and 19.3 inches long (49 cm). Crazy stuff.
But he is wonderful. I think that he definitely looks like he's related to us, although he doesn't look exactly like Chester or
exactly like Audrey's baby pics. You kind of have to squish them together to get Timothy. And although, yes, he looks like a
newborn (and face it, newborns do look kind of weird for a few days), he is beautiful. Hasn't done much yet, just eat and
sleep, but I'm definitely in love with him.
For those of you in the blogosphere who are a bit surprised by this news, it was intentional! I've tried very hard to post
pictures of Laura that hide her belly, or where she doesn't look pregnant, just so that it would be a shocker for the Internet
community (like here, here, here and here)! I think I'm so funny. If any of you need proof that she really was pregnant, just
If Laura keeps up her pattern, by the way, the next baby will be born quite late. Audrey was a week early, Chester half a
week, Timothy pretty much right on his due date and so the next one will be about half a week late... right? For Laura's sake,
I certainly hope not!
