PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS, SEPT 30, 2007
Back to Rypics
I had the opportunity to be one of the several thousand election observers during the Sept. 30, 2007 parliamentary elections
here in Ukraine.  I thought some of the differences and similarities between the U.S. and Ukrainian systems was interesting, so
I put together a PowerPoint for my family about the elections.  I also took a lot of pictures.  Therefore, I put together the
following pages:  An html version of the
PowerPoint presentation, portraits and sightseeing.  Enjoy!
From top to bottom, the people are the two people on my observing team, two of the election commissioners at polling places
(the one on the right is Ivan Ivanovich), random people kissing in Mukacheva castle, our driver Sergiy, front desk clerk at the
motel, musicians at Mukacheva castle (who then asked me for money for letting me take their picture), and our waiter at the
hotel restauant.  I also put pictures of our food, because it was as good as it was beautiful.  The one dish is a chilled tomato
served with frozen cream and kiwis.  It was really good and completely unexpected both as a) a dessert and b) from a
description of it!
