Back to Photo-a-Day Home
I know these pictures are late (but I mean, when haven't they been late lately, really).  I had the opportunity to go to Brussels for a
few days on business.  It was an amazing trip, but as always, after a couple of days, the adrenaline of being in a new city and being
able to take pictures without chasing after kids wore off and I just wanted to be home with the fam.  These pics were taken on my
last full day in Brussels, and also happend to fall on a day-in-the-life day.  So I took more "mundane" pictures and convinced Laura
to take some as well to do a parallel ditl.  The montage below was a wonderful multi-course meal I ate for just 10 Euro.  It was
awesome.

I wake up at 6:00 a.m. to work out
before I start the business side of my
day.  The self-pic was taken after the
workout.  I'm happy because I have
endorfins now!
Back in my home away from home.
Fresh real hot chocolate to go with my
breakfast.  Yum.
Call my wife to get her to do a parallel
ditl back in Kyiv.
While I'm in meetings all day (no
cameras allowed!)  The kids play
with paints and stickers.
Laura, meanwhile, gets all sorts of
energy and vacuums, does the
laundry, and mops.  She also cleans
the laundry room (note the before and
after pics).  Also note the wash time on
the washing machine.  It's a little out of
control.
Lunch is chicken nuggets and
smoothies (yum!), after which
Chester takes his nap.
While he's sleeping, Audrey colors,
and then plays with paper dolls
with Mom (Audrey took the pic of
my wife).  And Laura does a little
project and finishes the keychains
that we bought for some students
in Kyiv that were here for a
semester and are leaving in a few
days.
Meetings done, I look for a place
to eat and buy souvenirs.  There's
so many restaurants, it's hard to
pick one.  I pass some graffiti and
take a picture because it amuses
me.  There's graffiti in a lot of
places in Brussels, but it seems to
be limited to things that aren't
historically significant.  Hence,
graffiti on the boards of the closed
down store, but no graffiti on
historical monuments. I finally go to
a tourist shop next to the little
peeing boy (a
must see for anyone
visiting Brussels).  The kids and I
get T-shirts, but what to buy
Laura...
Back at home, Laura uses Jasmine
rice to make some chicken casserole
for dinner, and Chester eagerly awaits
its completion.
After my dinner (above), I decide to go
up to the cathedral to take a picture of
the rooftops/spire of the Brussels town
hall.  I pass this weirdo statue, but it
reminds me of my brother.
A couple HDRs of the city.
Up at the cathedral, I take a
pic of myself to prove that I
was actually in Brussels, then
turn around to take an HDR
of the skyline.
Wandering back to the hotel, I pass a
chocolate shop, and half a pound
later, Laura has a trip present.
One last shot of the restaurant street
before I head home to bed.
A last pic of the kids before they say
good night.  I don't know why they
weren't wearing pants, nor why Audrey
is praising the fingernail clippers so.
I watch some CNN and then turn in.
Good night!
