Today we braved the elements and headed out to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in the middle of tropical storm Hanna.
Since we expected to get wet, it wasn't that big of a deal, and we ended up having a really grand time. The museum, in addition to
their bug museum, currently has a butterfly tunnel, where they have tons and tons of butterflies just fluttering around. The kids are
kind of scared of bugs, so it was fun to see them squeal whenever a butterfly would get close or even, heaven forbid, land on them.
I thought the butterflies were great, but it's fairly common knowledge that I am scared of moths. Hence, the moth (last picture)
freaked me out a bit. It was easily as big as my hand with my fingers outstretched. YUCK! The one picture that's not of the butterfly
hall is the kids inside of a rock in the rock part of themuseum.
